Title:Inundation of Tsunami Waves

Speaker:Prof. Guan-Yu Chen

Department of Oceanography, NSYSU

Time:12/20(Tue.)14:00

Place:S-325, Science Building 1

Abstract:

This talk comprises three parts. The current situation of tsunami forecast is briefly introduced in the first part. Then, a real-time simulation method for nearshore tsunami inundation is discussed based on reciprocal Green’s Functions. This method, dubbed REGF/RFGF approach, is shown to be the most comprehensive method so that accuracy and economy are in good balance. In the third part, various waveforms and their runup heights/inundation distances are discussed. The result provides the worst scenario in a constant slope and can be used in a pre-calculated tsunami inundation map.
