Overview
The Institute of Hydrological and Oceanic Sciences has seven full-time and eight adjunct faculty members. The IHOS offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in three major areas: hydrologic cycles in the land-ocean-atmosphere system, hydro-environmental sciences, and hydro informatics. Pursuing research excellence in hydrologic and oceanic sciences, the institute emphasizes interdisciplinary research topics in the areas of flood/drought prediction and water resources management, interactions of hydrologic cycles and biota, hydro-environment monitoring and modeling, tsunami simulation, coastal observation, remote sensing applications in aquatic environment, and multiphase flow in porous media.
