Title:Tropical cyclone rapid intensification Part I: The roles of large-scale environments

Speaker:Prof. Lie-Yauw (Leo) Oey

Graduate Institute of Hydrological & Oceanic Sciences, NCU

Time:03/03(Tue.)14:00

Place:S-325, Science Building 1

Abstract:

Tropical cyclones that undergo rapid intensification (maximum 10-m wind speed increases more than 15 m/s/24 hours) often develop into major storms, and are of interest to the public, forecasters and researchers. In part 1 of this 2-part lecture series, I will introduce the topic and provide a critical review of the literature.
