Abstract：
How sea surface waves, wind, local sea level and coastal set-up evolve around the globe is of considerable societal importance in view of recent and projected sea-level rise under a warming climate. I will use observations, simple fluid mechanics and model simulations to explain and identify their connecting pattern, with an eye towards predicting how they may evolve in the near future.
