摘要：
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important greenhouse gas and its effect on aquatic acidification through air-sea gas exchanges in estuaries has gained attention recently. This effect of anthropogenic CO2 along with biological CO2 uptake may further lead to more rapid acidification in estuaries compared to the open ocean. In this talk, I will first display the spatial variation of CO2 distribution across the middle Chesapeake Bay. I will also discuss the relationship between the partial pressure of CO2 distribution and the horizontal circulation through wind forcing. In addition to the surface variation, the second part of this talk will use a published study to present the vertical variation of carbonate system in the upper Chesapeake Bay to discuss the estuarine acidification dynamics.
