Abstract:
Data mining is the computational process of discovering patterns in large data sets involving methods at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, and database systems. It is an interdisciplinary subfield of computer science. This speaking involves two topics in the fields of hydrological and oceanic sciences. The first topic is “wave height hindcasting by using a numerical-statistical prediction model for ship navigation during hurricanes,” and the other is “study on typhoon rainfall retrievals using satellite data.” The data mining techniques are demonstrated their ability of data analysis in both topics.
