Abstract:

Flow in porous media is an interesting object of scientific research. Single phase and two phase transport phenomena are interested from applied and purely scientific point of view. Additionally, to experimental investigations, such processes might be studied using modelling. Modelling of transport processes may, sometimes substitute experimental procedures. In some cases – i.e. pore level dynamical transport processes – modelling is the only way to gain knowledge about them. Application of finite volume method for modelling of transport processes in porous media will be presented: single and two phase modelling of transport at pore level and moisture changes modelling in macro scale (solving Richard’s equation). The OpenFOAM software was used as the implementation of finite volume method used for solving presented problems.
