Abstract:
The upper ocean mixing is a key process for air-sea interactions, especially for the energy flux across the air-sea interface. Other than some empirical parametric results, the true physics and dynamics are still elusive. The main problem was the wrong tool has been used for turbulence related problems. A new analysis method, the Holo-Hilbert Spectral Analysis (HHSA) is introduced and it is applied to the wave-turbulence interaction studies. Recent open ocean field data has validated the method and clarified the dynamics.
